Lapeer

The house that came with the property was a Forrest Cabin that was built in the 1940’s. Over the years it has had a number of major additions added to it. These additions have removed any historical value that the house may have otherwise had.

The number of issues with the house have reduced its value to zero. The cost to fix these issues (leaking roof, rewiring, replumbing etc.) is prohibitive. Any changes to the house require that the changes be made to current code and may exceed the cost of building new.

With that in mind we are planning to tear down the existing house and to build a Post and Beam structure based on the Connext Post and Beam Lapeer barn. The great thing about building from plans is that we can make changes. For example rather than having the loft as shown we will have the loft on 2 bents to one end leaving the living room open to the roof. We are not sure if we will have a basement and if we do we expect to use it as storage and a garage.
